GOLDEN RULES N°1
7 KEY STEPS TO RECORDING AN AREA
STEP 1: GET IN TOUCH
Notify area operators and supervisor. Inform them of the work to be done
STEP 2: CUT OFF ALL ENERGIES
Cut off energies and discharge residual energies.
STEP 3: RECORD AND REPORT OUTAGES
Lock all energy sources.
Install the machine padlock (LOTO box) + all participants must padlock the sources using their personal padlock.
See the LOTO procedure for the area concerned in the nearby box.
STEP 4: CHECK ALL CUTS
Test all controls (electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic) to ensure complete lockout.
Check for lack of energy.
STEP 5: MECHANICALLY LOCK
If necessary.
STEP 6: Mark out the work area
Step 7. Deconsign
When the work is completed, and after removing all the various locking devices, test the equipment.
Before turning them back on, notify all affected workers.
