GOLDEN RULES N°1
7 KEY STEPS TO RECORDING AN AREA
STEP 1: MAKE CONTACT
Notify the area operators and the supervisor. Inform them of the work to be carried out.
STEP 2: CUT OFF ALL POWER
Cut off the power and discharge the residual energy.
STEP 3: RECORD AND REPORT THE CUTTINGS
Lock down all power sources.
Place the machine lock (LOTO box) + all participants must lock the sources using their personal lock.
See the LOTO procedure for the area concerned in the nearby box.
STEP 4: CHECK ALL CUTS
Test all controls (electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic) to ensure complete lockout.
Check for lack of energy.
STEP 5: MECHANICALLY LOCK
If necessary.
STEP 6: Mark out the work area
Step 7. Deconsign
When the work is completed, and after removing all the various locking devices, test the equipment.
Before turning them back on, notify all affected workers.
