> Ensure that all guardrails and safety systems have been reinstalled after a maintenance operation.

 

Removing any protective equipment is prohibited unless it obstructs the proper execution of the intervention. In that case, it must be accompanied by new protective measures. For example, if maintenance personnel need to remove a guardrail to access an engine, the guardrail protects against falls.

Here, the risk of falling is therefore increased by the removal of this guardrail; the mechanic must, for example, wear a harness to reduce this risk. To assess the risk, a risk assessment must be carried out before work begins.
